Jorge Marin's sculptures are stolen in Queretaro
National | 17 MAY 2020 Por Redacción

On May 11 in Calzada de los Arcos Querétaro, 5 sculptures by Jorge Marin and 9 paintings by other artists were stolen from the Nuun Art Gallery. Despite the multiple security measures that the gallery had implemented, including a video surveillance circuit and alarm system, the thieves managed to steal 5 sculptures by Jorge Marín, 2 paintings by Fernando Garrido, 2 works by Marielle García, 1 work by Patricia Sánchez Saiffe, 1 painting by Moisés Cervantes, 2 by Aidee de León and 1 by Pablo Llana.

Based on the events, the gallery issued a statement through its social networks to inform that they will not suspend their operations:

“Although our business has been affected, we do not plan to stop our work, because like thousands of companies in our country, we work every day to adapt and get ahead in these difficult times; because we believe in art and its transformative power to build better societies.”

Both the Nuun gallery and the artist Jorge Marin published images and data of the stolen pieces and invited the community not to acquire these pieces. To see the list of stolen works, we invite you to click on the following link: https://www.facebook.com/nuunarteqro/posts/1481237185382587

Unfortunately, this theft has not been the only one that has occurred due to the isolation measures established by COVID-19. Another victim of the artistic community has been the Peruvian painter Alfredo Alcade who on May 12 reported the theft of 20 of his works from his residence in Mexico City.
